‘Triple Talak‘ which is a customary practice among the muslims where the marriage breaks once the husband says talaq three times. Once he completes telling the third time, the woman should agree to his terms and conditions and she can no longer stay with her in-laws neither her husband.
Don’t any of you feel that this custom is unfair and biased against women? This custom doesn’t give the woman her freedom for making her own choices and decisions. Not just this, universally this practice is being criticized and this custom has been banned in 22 countries across the globe for its blindness.
The supreme court on August 22nd 2017, declared that this particular practice of the Triple Talaq as unconstitutional and stated that it was obligue as per Article 14 and 21.
Very recently, a woman from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly cut off by her in-laws when she refused to withdraw her triple talak case. Where she didn’t want to break her marriage with her husband but choicelessly she had to leave her husband.
Sources say that, Lok Sabha on Thursday, passed the bill to ban instant triple talaq and jail Muslim men who indulge in instant divorce, even as the opposition called it a discriminatory legislation and BJP ally JDU staged a walkout. Which also means the ruling party is against this decision of removing the talak system.
